Marketing Leaders Urge Linda Yaccarino to Resign as Twitter CEO

As advertisers boycott X over Elon Musk’s antisemitic remarks on the social media site, X CEO Linda Yaccarino, a former NBC ad executive who was hired to restore the company’s trust and revenue from big brands, is facing a challenge to her integrity.

According to Forbes, several top ad executives have reached out to Yaccarino and urged her to take a stand against racism and antisemitism by resigning from her position. She has not given in to their pressure, sources said.

Musk sparked outrage last week when he agreed with an X user who spread an antisemitic conspiracy theory that “Jewish communities have been pushing the exact kind of dialectical hatred against white people that they want people to stop using against them.”

A report by Media Matters revealed that ads from major companies like IBM and Amazon were running next to content that promoted Nazis and white supremacy, leading advertisers like Apple, Disney, and IBM to withdraw their ads from the site.

The White House also denounced Musk’s antisemitic and racist comments. Yaccarino responded to the controversy in a post on X on November 16: “X’s point of view has always been obvious that discrimination by everyone should STOP across the board.”
