Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI who introduced ChatGPT to the world, has left the company after the board lost trust in him. The company said in a statement that a review “found that he was not honest and clear in his talks with the board, making it hard for them to communicate.”

Mira Murati, who was the chief technology officer (CTO) of OpenAI, will serve as the interim CEO while OpenAI searches for a permanent replacement, the statement said. Altman did not say anything when asked for his opinion. OpenAI did not say anything either.

The statement also said that Greg Brockman, who started OpenAI with Altman and other big names in AI and technology like Elon Musk, would quit his position as the head of the company’s board.

Brockman did not give any reason for his decision but he said that he left the company a few hours after the company’s statement. He showed an email that he sent to OpenAI workers on X. “I’m very happy about what we all created since I began in my flat 8 years ago,” the email said. “We had good and bad times together, doing so much even though it seemed impossible. But after what happened today, I’m out.”
